In the mold industry, the materials used for making half molds are diverse. Commonly used metallic materials include steel. For example, alloy structural steel has high strength and good wear resistance. Aluminum alloy combines light weight with a certain level of strength. Copper alloy has good thermal conductivity. The processing techniques are abundant. In cutting processing, turning is used for machining rotary parts, milling is used for processing complex shapes, and drilling is used for making holes. Electrical discharge machining can handle complex cavities that are difficult to achieve with conventional cutting methods. There are also heat treatment processes to improve hardness, toughness, etc., and surface treatment processes such as grinding, polishing, electroplating, etc. to enhance the surface performance and ensure the quality of the half molds.
